Mount Evans, Colorado

Mount Evans, Colorado is 14,265 feet above sea level and what makes it a bit different is that there is a road to the top.  (For New Zealanders, Aoraki Mount Cook is 12,129 feet.) . Unfortunately for us, the summer season finished three days ago, and the road was only open to the Summit Lake, at 12,830 ft, which is still higher than Mt Cook!

Wildlife on the drive up - two moose and a fox.

This female moose appeared to be eating pond weed.

Time to come up for air.

We almost missed the fox walking up the road.  Photo by Richard as it was on his side of the car and was taken through the window.  Check out the magnificent tail!

Bristlecone pines on Mt Evans.  The oldest is about 1,700 years old.
