Fortress of the Bear is a sanctuary for injured bears with the aim of ultimately releasing them back into their wild habitat. Unfortunately when very young cubs are brought in they cannot be released as they do not have the skills to survive on their own. I was very impressed with the facilities at Fortress of the Bear. The bears had big enclosures with ponds and creeks, and live salmon were released into the water for them to catch their own dinner.
