Florence, Italy

Beautiful Florence, dominated by the huge Duomo (officially known as Santa Maria dei Fiori - (Saint Mary of the Flowers)) with it's huge dome (cupola) and free-standing bell-tower (campanile).  I climbed the 414 steps up the bell tower, up the spiral staircase where you need to press yourself against the wall to pass people going in the opposite direction.  Not for the fainthearted.

View from halfway up the bell tower.

Looking out at the dome from the bell tower.

Red tile roofs.

The river Arno.

The Duomo is so huge it is hard to get it all in a photograph.
