Hienghene, New Caledonia

If someone were to say Hienghene to me, what will immediately spring to mind are the impressive black limestone rocks.  I have struggled to find geological information about them so can't tell you much more, except that there were several formations over a 10 kilometer area.

This is sea water in front of the rocks, but from this point I couldn't see the ocean.  It was possible to kayak if it had been pre-arranged.

This is the same formation, and the height of the coconut palm shows the height.

This formation is called "La Poule" or The Brooding Hen.
