Gitanyow Totem Poles and St Paul's Anglican Church, near Terrace, B.C.

The First Nation's community of Gitanyow has a history has a history dating back approximately 10,000 years.  There are over 20 outstanding carved cedar totem poles, some more than a century old.  The totem poles evidently have no 'religious' significance, but are more like family crests.

They are incredibly tall and very hard to photograph.  I have chosen just a portion of one here.  To me, this portrays "family" or a nurturing nature.

Not far away is the St Paul's Anglican Church, built in 1893.  The structure on the right is a separate bell tower.
