Old Man Range, Central Otago

In order to get to the top of the Old Man Range in Central Otago, we decided a guide with a 4 wheel drive was the best option.  Unfortunately we had intermittent cloud on the top (1,690 m) and it was freezing, literally.  Well worth the experience though.  These are just a small selection of the amazing life up there.

"The Old Man" 26 m high and can be seen from our motel room in Alexandra.

A gentian in flower ( probably twice life size).

Alpine cushion plants.  I don't know the species, but they look like miniature cabbages to me.  Again approximately twice life size.
