Mt Cook, New Zealand

Another blue sky day at Mt Cook today, with a low this morning of 5 deg, and a high at 4 pm of 32 degs!  (taken from the thermometer in the car.  We knew it might be hot, so started our walk early, and thank goodness we did.  I'm not sure how much elevation we gained, but it was an hour and a half of walking up steps, until we reached Sealy Tarns.  It was definitely worth it, as the view was stupendous.  We have been lucky enough to travel to a lot of wonderful places, but Mt Cook on a sunny day is hard to beat.

One of the Sealy Tarns.  We made it!

After a well earned rest, we head down.  That's Mt Cook, with the Hooker Glacier and glacial lake.  You can just make out some little dots in the lake which are actually icebergs.

The view from the ranchslider of our motel!  Who needs to climb up mountain sides?
