Lake Ohau, McKenzie Country

Lake Ohau is a wonderful place, made all the better by a sunny day.  We reached 30 deg this afternoon, so I cooled off with a swim in the lake.  I discovered if I floated and swam in the top 30 cm of water it wasn't so cold, so I stayed in for ages.
Looking across Lake Ohau as the sun dips behind the mountains behind me.

This morning we obtained the key to the gate to drive up the Ohau Ski Field road.  At the top we walked up underneath the chairlift run, and then a bit further.  This is morning tea stop and as far as we got.  There was good cell phone reception here, (none lower down), so here Richard is "at work" sorting out work emails!  Talk about office with a view.

This is me slogging up the rocky slope (Richard's photo).  The green is alpine cushion plants.

The road was steep, narrow, with lots of hairpin bends.  Not for the faint-hearted.
