Blue Pools, Haast Pass

These blue pools really are a beautiful colour.  When we arrived (after a short walk from the road), we were the only ones here, and I managed to take a photo before a whole bus load of very active, noisy young people arrived to disturb the peace.  Luckily the sandflies now had more people to bother instead of just us.

A Yellow Crowned Kakariki (in the wild)  We saw a pair on the walk to the pools, which is the first time I have seen any in the wild.  The photo quality is now the best as it was very dark under the forest canopy.
