Dawn over Kings Billabong, Mildura, Victoria
We didn't deliberately set off to be here at dawn, just a combination of our body clocks still adjusting to Victorian time, and knowing the day was going to be very hot, we thought we would start early. In this case it paid off, as we arrived just as the sun rose. Two minutes later the colours were gone, so I was very lucky. Kings Billabong is close to the Murray River, so it was probably part of the river years ago, until it was cut off by a flood changing the river's course. That's my theory, anyway.
