Denniston Coal Mine

The Denniston Plateau was the site of a coal mine in the 1880's.  This photo shows 'the top of the incline' where the coal was loaded onto the carts to travel down to the coast.  To travel to Denniston, you take the main road 17 k north of Westport, then turnoff up the narrow, winding road up onto the plateau.
