Humpback Whales, Coff's Harbour, NSW

Now is the time the Humpback Whales move from down south up to the warmer waters of the tropics up the eastern coast of Australia.  I had a wonderful whale watching trip, with the whales putting on a great display.  Unfortunately the sea was quite choppy, making for tricky photography, but you can only do your best.

The boat is supposed to stay 25 metres away from the whales, but no-one told the whale that!  This one was really interested and surfaced right in front of the boat.  I must admit it crossed my mind that I hope he/she didn't come up UNDER the boat!

This one put on a tail thwacking display, bringing it's tail down on the surface of the water ten or fifteen times in the one place!  It is approximately 5 metres from our boat.

Goodbye!
