Wallaman Falls, Girringun National Park, Queensland

The Wallaman Falls, 268m in height, are said to be Australia's tallest permanent waterfall.  They are a 50k sidetrip (100 k round trip) from the Bruce Highway so we hoped they were worth the drive.  They were.  You can see them from the lookout at the end of the road, and then you can walk down into the valley and see them from the bottom.  (Then you have to climb back up again, which in 32 deg and humid, takes a bit of effort!)

The pool at the bottom is 20m deep.

Taken from the top.  I really like the umbrella tree flowers in the foreground.  We had an umbrella tree in our garden in Fiji, so this is a touch of childhood nostalgia for me.
