Pelicans, Kalbarri, Western Australia

These pelicans are hopeful of getting a free feed of fish.  Every morning at 9 am a volunteer arrives to give the tourists a brief talk about the pelicans, and then small fish (dead) about 10 cm in length are thrown to the pelicans who catch them expertly in their huge bills.  I was initially quite skeptical about how ethical this was, but the pelicans remain wild and were very skittish around humans, retreating when children were too noisy.
