Moreton Bay Fig Tree, Russell, Bay of Islands

This Moreton Bay fig tree in Russell was planted by Edward Binney Laing, collector of Customs from 1869-1884, and grows by what used to be the Custom House (now used for accommodation).
It was badly scorched when the third Duke of Marlborough hotel burnt down in 1931 (it is next door to the hotel) but has regenerated.
