Prayer Saves Church, Iceland

I can't recall the exact date but I think it was in the 1980's or 1990's, not that long ago in geological terms, that this church was in the path of a lava flow from a nearby volcano.  The congregation all prayed for the church to be spared, and it was!  The lava flow halted at the cemetery wall.

You can see the lava flow behind the rock wall.  The flow has come down from the lefthand side.
