The Cosmic Noise Expedition, Piha, Auckland

This information may be known to some, but it was new for me when I read this plaque today.  To summarise ...  In 1948 two radio astronomers determined the source of radio waves from outside our solar system.  They identified signals from three radio stars - Taurus A, Centaurus A and Virgo A.  This was at the end of Te Ahu Ahu Road in Piha, near Auckland!
