Harding River Dam

At last, an internet connection that actually works and is faster than a snail!  Impressions of north Western Australia so far:  HOT - 10 deg hotter than we expected.  First three days were 44, 45 and 46 which curtailed some of the walks we had planned.  The next three days have been somewhat cooler and only in the high thirties.  RED DUST - everywhere.  ROAD TRAINS - huge.  Gorges in Karijini National Park - hot, dusty, and spectacular!  Swimming in natural pools in the gorges - absolutely wonderful! Wildlife and birds - great.  Gravel roads - corugated.

Harding River Dam was 50 k inland and is the water supply for the towns of Dampier, Karratha, and Roeborne.  It was an oasis of green in an otherwise dry landscape.
