Twin Blooms
The warm and wet weather Auckland has been having is great for the garden, but this cactus flowered a month ago, and this was actually taken on Christmas Day. These large flowers seem to open overnight, and then only last for twenty-four hours. I took several shots, many including the plant to give some indication of how big it is, but it is this one which stands out. While taking this shot I had to crouch down to get the right angle looking up with the sky as background. Crouching down among cacti was done very carefully! (My sister Margaret can tell a story about a cactus, and she refuses to have any in the garden now!)
