The Flame Tree or Delonix Regia, is also known as the Flamboyant Tree or the Royal Poinciana tree. It is cultivated in many countries around the world, but it actually endangered in the wild in it's native Madagascar. It also comes in a yellow variety (which we saw in New Caledonia but I didn't realise then that it was the same species.)
From the moment we stepped off the plane we saw the red of these beautiful trees in flower. We were very lucky that our visit coincided with their flowering. I took many photos of them, but this one is one of my favorites.
