Driving through Kootenay National Park we saw our first bear! He was crossing the road in front of us, and then went into the trees. We did a u-turn and parked where he went into the trees, and there he was, about three meters away, munching on grass. Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo because the trees and bushes were too thick. While we were looking at the bear, (about 5 mins) a cyclist went passed who had no idea a bear was so close to him. This one was a black bear, supposedly less aggressive than grizzlies.
Fabulous! Glad you have your bear eyes in working order. Loved your other photos. I did the Whistler to Kamloops drive (we were passengers in a transfer) in winter - was amazing.
