Matagouri, (also used to be known as wild Irishman) is a scrubby, thorny bush, mostly found on the eastern side of the South Island. It is endemic to New Zealand, also similar species can be found elsewhere. I found these orange berries on what looked matagouri to me, on the outskirts of Dunedin, but all the images on Google talk about the thorns and the flowers, but do not mention berries. Can any one shed any light on whether this is in fact matagouri?
