This is an amazing part of the country, on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast, which is only accessible by boat or air. We travelled three hours in a river boat on the way in (from the south) and it was an hour and a half's boat ride to the west to connect up to a road that would take us back to San Jose. To me, it was like journeying up the Amazon.

| We had been held up and it actually was dark before we arrived at our hotel. However, a huge full moon gradually rose up over the trees. Magical! (I couldn't take photos after dark, but this was when the sun was going down.) |
