Amorphophallus Titanum Flower, the biggest flower of them all

This gigantic flower can be up to 3 metres high, although the one at the Auckland Domain Wintergarden today measured 2.5 m.  This is the first time it has flowered in New Zealand, and we may have to wait another 7 - 10 years before it flowers again.  It's other name is "corpse flower" because it supposedly smells like rotting flesh, which attracts flies as pollinators.  It wasn't smelling at all when I was there, but maybe that changed later in the day.

I included this photo with some people for a size comparison.
