Mt Shasta, Northern California

At 14, 162 feet, Mt Shasta is impressive.  (Mt Cook used to be 12,349 feet when I went to school.)  It is also a stand alone mountain (like Mt Taranaki) as opposed to being just one in a range of high mountains.  We stayed at a little town called Mt Shasta at about 3,000 ft, but drove up the mountain to just over 8,000 feet.  We were going to do a walk, but decided against it when the wind picked up making it decidedly unpleasant.  So we settled for photographs.

Mt Shasta from afar.

From road's end.

Moss growing on the pine trees on the mountain.
