Lions at Auckland Zoo

Last Thursday started off wet, with frequent heavy rain squalls.  By the time I got to the zoo in the afternoon all the family groups and school children had gone home, leaving me and four or five other adults to enjoy the  antics of the animals.  By now the rain had eased up, and although still threatening, I didn't actually have any rain in the couple of hours I was there.  When I initially walked passed the lions enclosure they were hiding somewhere out of sight, so I moved on.  While photographing the cheetahs, who were right up against the glass, (photos tomorrow) I heard the lions roaring and decided to walk back.  There was absolutely no-one else around and I was watching a stationary lioness (the one in the foreground), when suddenly she pricked up her ears as another lioness came hurtling around the rocks.  I just picked up my camera and clicked.  As I was using manual mode it was just luck that this came out at all.
