At 10,000 ft above water and 20,000 below water, this is one big mountain. Our walk today started at the summit and went down 1,600 ft to a cinder cone. We then had to walk all the way back to the top. We both managed fine, in spite of the altitude. The landscape reminded us of Tongariro Crossing or Mt Tarawera. It took us about 3 1/2 hours which we didn't think was too bad.
Looking down the side of the crater.
That's where we're headed, and we started up there at the rim.
A very colourful rock
Morning tea at the cinder cone. The clouds then rolled in for the walk back up.
